Robert Lacoy

Since 1992, Roger Lacoy has been a tireless voice for marginalized communities within the healthcare system. His journey in advocacy began in Massachusetts, where he led foundational patient support groups, and has since evolved into a career dedicated to humanizing healthcare on a national scale.

Currently, he serves as a volunteer on the Board of Directors for Primary Health Care in Des Moines and contributes his expertise to the Patient Partner Innovation Community and PITCH. A seasoned leader in the PFAC movement, he serves on several Patient and Family Advisory Councils at both the local and national levels. His volunteer work is deeply technical and systemic, including active service on Performance Improvement and Patient Safety committees, where he ensures the lived experience of patients directly informs healthcare quality and delivery.

A proud advocate for individuals living with HIV, he leverages his personal and professional experience to ensure that no patient is ever defined by a diagnosis. Now based in Iowa, he remains committed to eradicating healthcare stigma and ensuring the patient voice is at the center of every clinical conversation.
