Sheeva Azma


Sheeva Azma is a neuroscientist, storyteller, marketer, and policy professional. She earned her BS in Brain and Cognitive Sciences from MIT and her MS in Neuroscience from Georgetown University.


After spending 10 years in academic science studying the link between brain structure and function, she became a freelance writer. From January to March 2018, Sheeva worked in the US House of Representatives as a legislative intern, briefing her office on issues including health, science, and more. In 2020, she founded Fancy Comma, LLC, a science communications company.


From 2020-2022, she was a freelance writer working with the Patient Safety Movement Foundation, where she worked closely with staff to amplify PSMF's mission of ending patient harm. In addition to running Fancy Comma, she also volunteers at the Oklahoma City Veterans Affairs Hospital, where she is a friendly face to support Veterans, hospital staff, and others.
