Mary Herold

Mary Herold, EM-CQSL, RN, CPPS Prosci®

Mary Herold is a healthcare consultant, Patient Advocate, and nurse with more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare field.


Mary recently joined Accenture Federal Services to provide solutions that accelerate change with meaningful outcomes in the healthcare setting. Before joining Accenture Federal Services, she advised the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) on developing and sustaining High-Reliability Organization principles and values. Mary also assisted in transitioning Military Treatment Facilities under the purview of the Defense Health Agency (DHA).


Before working with the DHA and VHA, she was a System Clinical Safety Program Operations Manager for MedStar Health Institute for Quality and Safety. Mary started her career as a nurse at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and continues to hold her District of Columbia Nursing License. Her passion is patient and employee safety and engaging patients and families in decision-making around care.


This passion led her to become a Clinical Risk Manager for MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. She assisted in initiating the Patient Family Advisory Council for Quality and Safety (PFACQS) at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and presently serves as the co-lead. Mary is also part-time faculty for the Executive Master’s in Clinical Quality, Safety, and Leadership program at Georgetown University. Mary is certified as a Professional Patient Safety (CPPS) and holds a Prosci® Change Management certification.
