Katharina Kovacs Burns, MSc, MHSA, PhD

Katharina Kovacs Burns, MSc, MHSA, PhD, is a Senior Provincial Consultant within Alberta Health Services. She collaborates with colleagues and Patient/Family Advisors in supporting patients/families as partners with healthcare leaders and professionals, co-designing and co-evaluating their healthcare experiences and outcomes, and co-advocating for continuous improvement for safe, quality care.

These efforts align with her focus on healthcare access, utilization, and impact as part of her academic position, at the School of Public Health, University of Alberta. This aligns with her volunteer role with Patients for Patient Safety Canada (Board Director and Co-Chair), and as a patient and patient/caregiver advocate. She is affiliated with other local, national, and international patient organizations including the Global Patient Safety Network.
