Jean Harpel, MSN, RN, GCNS

Jean Harpel, MSN, RN, GCNS, is a geriatric clinical nurse specialist and currently serves as the Operations Manager of the Senior Care team at ECRI. In this role, she provides environment-of-care safety, security, quality, and risk management consultation to senior care communities across the United States.

Jean partners with senior care leadership and staff to design and implement comprehensive risk management systems that reduce harm, mitigate future risk, and foster a strong culture of safety and accountability. Through ECRI’s consultation services, she supports organizations in strengthening operational practices while prioritizing resident safety and high-quality care delivery.

With more than twenty-five years of experience, Jean has developed and delivered institution-based learning programs using electronic media, traditional lectures, just-in-time training activities, and bedside education initiatives. Her work emphasizes safe, efficient care delivery and sustainable systems improvement.

She has extensive experience writing, implementing, and reviewing policies and procedures for senior care communities and home care providers. Additionally, she has presented nationally at workshops and conferences on a broad range of risk management topics for senior care providers and healthcare professionals.
