Dave deBronkart
Dave deBronkart, known on the internet as “e-Patient Dave,” is a pioneer of advocacy for patient empowerment through access to information. A survivor of a near-fatal cancer in 2007, he later discovered errors in his medical record and became a key voice in policy discussions that led to today’s patient portals and OpenNotes, and became a global keynote speaker for patient empowerment.
His focus is on changing the culture of care by helping medicine see the patient’s perspective; he became famous for the slogans “Let Patients Help” and “Gimme My DaM data” (Data about Me). A former high tech marketer involved in disruptive innovation, he is a huge fan of peer-to-peer healthcare. Today he curates the Patients Use AI Substack and recently started a “Homebrew Health AI” Subreddit, where patients who use AI can share tips and methods.
