Dinaaz Lentin

Dinaaz, a distinguished international keynote speaker, is renowned for her expertise in resilience and change. With a unique career trajectory forged from personal adversity within the healthcare system, she’s also an active patient safety advocate.

The genesis of her speaking career and advocacy role can be traced back to a series of harrowing experiences within the healthcare system. From an operation on the wrong leg, to a surgical drain unintentionally retained, and also a mismanaged labor which resulted in 11 subsequent surgeries within a year, she’s confronted the depths of medical adversity. She’s also experienced the paralysis of both her arms, following complications with anesthesia on two separate occasions, and two separate arms. On her second experience with the paralysis, she consulted 49 doctors over a 14-month period. Finally, she convinced surgeon 49 to operate and her paralysis was reversed within two days. Along this journey she witnessed numerous system weaknesses within the healthcare system which caused the 14-month delay in her recovery.

In total, she’s now needed 28 additional operations to fix decades of medical errors.

To highlight the many systemic weaknesses in healthcare, Dinaaz wrote her memoir, "Battle Scars”. Medical professionals from all over the world have endorsed her book stating that “Battle Scars should be mandatory reading for all who work in healthcare.” Her ability to articulate her personal struggles serves as a powerful catalyst for change within the healthcare industry.

With years of lived experiences, Dinaaz has an innate ability to identify system weaknesses that have the ability to cause harm to patients. She’s a proactive patient safety advocate who collaborates with numerous hospitals and government agencies, as she works tirelessly to improve patient safety standards. She has one goal - to make sure no one experiences harm from preventable medical errors.
